About Adding a GS1 DM Code on a G10+ TIJ Printer
The GS1 data matrix code follows the coding rules of the GS1 system and is a globally recognized QR code. The GS1 data matrix code has become very popular in the fields of pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and mechanical components.The G10+ printer supports fixed and variable GS1 DM codes. Using our G10+ online printer, you can add and print a GS1 DM code easily. The following steps are for your reference.
Ⅰ. How to add a fixed GS1 DM code
Step 1: Add a new file on on the printer and give it a name
Step 2: Click “Add” in order to add the code
Step 3: Choose “Code”
Step 4: Choose “Barcode type” as GS1-DM, and input the text of the code, so the corresponding GS1-DM code will be generated and shown on the canvas.
When you input the text, you can choose either of the following two ways: 1. You can type the text directly on the printer. 2. You can edit the text on computer in a txt. file firstly, and then copy the file into the USB we supply with the printer, insert the USB in the printer and click “Import text” to import the text, which can be faster.
Notice 1: please make sure each item follows the GS1 coding system when you input the information, otherwise there will be error notice.
Notice 2: please don’t create a new line or space when you input the text content, no matter you type the text directly on the printer or import the text from a USB, otherwise there will be error notice. Keep all information in the same line as below:
Step 5: Click “✔” to confirm the content
Step 6: Adjust the size and location of the code on the homepage according to your needs.
Step 7: After the code is added, usually you also need to add texts beside the code. So you click “Add”
Step 8: Click “Text”
Step 9: input the text and the text will be shown on the canvas
When you input the text, you can choose either of the following two ways:
1. You can type the text directly on the printer.
2. You can edit the text on computer in a new txt. file firstly, and then copy the file into the USB we supply with the printer, insert the USB in the printer and click “Import text” to import the text, which can be faster.
As this content is only for text, please type the text in different lines as below, no matte you type the text directly on the printer or import the text from a USB.
Step 10: Click “✔” to confirm the text content:
Step 11: Adjust the size and location of the text on the homepage according to your needs.
After all the above has been finished, you can begin to print.
Ⅱ. How to add a variable GS1 DM code
Imagine only the date is a variable item.
Step 1: Create a new file, giving it a name.
Step 2: Add>Var code
Step 3: Choose “Code type” as “GS1 DM”
Step 4: Choose “Variable 1” > “Text”
Input the text which is not variable and the text will be shown on the canvas.
When you input the text, you can choose either of the following two ways:
1. You can type the text directly on the printer.
2. You can edit the text on computer in a new txt. file firstly, and then copy the file into the USB we supply with the printer, insert the USB in the printer and click “Import text” to import the text, which can be faster.

Confirm the text content and the corresponding GS1 DM code is generated and shown on the canvas.
Step 5: Choose “Variable 2” > “Date Time”
Choose a suitable format and confirm.
Step 6: Confirm the variable code
Step 7: Adjust the size and location of the code
After the code is added, now the text beside the code needs to be added.
Step 8: Choose “Add”>”Text”
Input text content “(17)”
Step 9: Choose “Add”>”Text”

Step 10: “Add”>”Date Time”
Choose the Date and Time format same as in the variable code, and confirm it. Then it will be shown on the canvas.
Step 11: Adjust the size and location
After all the above is finished, you can begin to print.
Additional remarks:
1.If you need to add a variable item which is not set in default in the system, you need to put the variable content into the first column in an excel file on computer, and use the USB we sent with the printer to import the file.
2.And when you add the corresponding variable text beside the code, you need to go “Add”>”Var data”, to add the same variable content in excel file imported from the USB.
Notice: Within 1 variable code, only 1 file can be imported.
