About Ink Calibration Function on G10+ TIJ Online Printers
Ink Calibration Function is only available on locked/encrypted G10+ printers, which is used to adjust the printing times allowed for RFID chips, so as to match the actual ink percentage in a cartridge.

When you are using a certain model of ink cartridges, you find that, even though there is prompt saying the RFID-allowed printing times are used up, there is still enough ink inside. And if you stick another new RFID on the cartridge, printing can go on normally. In this case, if you use the same certain model of ink cartridges to print the same content next time under the same grey level, you can adjust the ink calibration coefficient higher to increase the RFID-allowed printing times to match the actual printing times of the ink cartridge and fully use ink inside the cartridge.
When you are using a certain model of ink cartridges, you find that, even though there is no prompt saying the RFID-allowed printing times are used up, but the ink inside can’ t be supplied any more. In this case, if you use the same certain model of ink cartridges to print the same content next time under the same grey level, you can adjust the ink calibration coefficient lower to decrease the RFID-allowed printing times to match the actual printing times of the ink cartridge and make the ink alarm more accurate.
Currently, the scope of ink calibration in our G10+ printer system is -3~8, the default coefficient is 0, when the ink volume written in RFID is 100%. The coefficient difference is 5% between each level, which is shown as below.
Imagine that printing the current content consumes 0.1% of the total ink volume. In default status (when coefficient is 0), the printing times allowed by the RFID chip is: 100%/0.1%=1000. And printing times allowed by the RFID chip of other coefficients is:
How to adjust the ink calibration coefficient?
1. Find the printing times allowed by RFID chip in path “Settings-Calculate the cost” (which is shown as 48615 in the image below). And you can calculate the printing times allowed by RFID chip under each coefficient.
2. Find the actual accumulated printing times in path “Print”.
Please notice that: before you install a new ink cartridge and print it, please click “Reset” behind the “Total Printout” and make the data 0; after the cartridge is used up,check the number of “Total Printout”.
Please do not click “Reset”behind “Total Printout” before the cartridge is used up.
Let’ s imagine the “Total Printout” is 45000 after a new ink cartridge is used up, which is near to the printing times 46184 corresponding to coefficient -1 in the above table. And the printing times allowed by RFID is more than the actual printing times, which makes sure the ink can be used up. In this situation, it’ s suggested that, when you use the same model of ink cartridges and the same grey level to print the same printing content next time, you can adjust the coefficient to -1 before printing a new cartridge.
Let’ s imagine the “Total Printout” is 53000 after a new ink cartridge is used up, which is near to the printing times 53477 corresponding to coefficient 2 in the above table. And the printing times allowed by RFID is more than the actual printing times, which makes sure the ink can be used up. In this situation, it’ s suggested that, when you use the same model of ink cartridges and the same grey level to print the same printing content next time, you can adjust the coefficient to 2 before printing a new cartridge.
Please notice that, the ink volume and calculated cost on the printer are theoretical, which are only for reference. The actual ink volume and cost should be based on the actual situation
Why need ink calibration function on TIJ printer? Because there is no ink level sensor in the cartridge, the total printout of RFID is a theoretical value,it may be different from the real printout due to many factors like working environments, nozzle size. With ink calibration function, you can match the TTL print out of RFID to the actual ink percentage in a cartridge.
